UKPA Statement on COVID-19 (16th March 2020)
16/03/2020, 22:00
Following the most recent government announcement this afternoon, the UKPA Executive have made the difficult decision to suspend all communal polocrosse activity, including training, until further notice.
Government advice is now to avoid all unnecessary travel and social gatherings, and as such we believe that the most responsible decision at this time is to put a suspension of activity in place. As an equestrian contact sport we must also be aware that in the coming weeks there will be restrictions on the support of the emergency services, and we are committed to doing our utmost not to further burden the NHS or risk the safety of our players.
We thank all of our members, club officials, coaches and event volunteers for their support at this time, and the Exec will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves.
We are committed to communicating with our members responsibly, appropriately and clearly when further decisions are made. Ensuring your safety and reducing infection is our priority, so we thank you for your patience and understanding during this period of uncertainty.
We look forward to being able to resume polocrosse activity as soon as possible.
