Open Squad Coach & Manager
The UKPA would like to announce that Tom Simkin has been appointed Open Squad Coach and Faye Scott the Open Squad Manager.
Tom brings a wealth of coaching experience, having begun his international coaching career back in 2009 with the UK U16 squad. Since then he has been involved with a variety of UK squads and tours over the years, including the 2011 UK PC team, 2012 U25s SA tour, Wales Open team, UK U16 squad, and most recently the successful U19 tour to SA as part of the PDP programme. He is Chief Coach for both the UKPA and the Pony Club, and is also the only UKCC Level 4 Polocrosse coach. When he’s not coaching polocrosse, he is a full time sport lecturer delivering from GCSE through to HE level, and is also a qualified hockey and volleyball coach!
Faye has previously carried out the role of both Open Squad Manager and World Cup 2019 Manager, and we are delighted that she wishes to continue in the post bringing her wealth of experience from the last few years.
With regards to squad nominations, selections and tour planning, this is all currently on hold due to the COVID-19 crisis. However, as soon as we have an indication of when the polocrosse season can resume we will be able to start selection procedures.
As stated in our COVID-19 FAQ, we will consider the impact on timeframes for future selection and will review on a regular basis to ensure that no one is disadvantaged by the period of polocrosse suspension.
